The University of Arkansas school year has just begun and we’re incredibly excited to have a new, amazing group of residents. To kick off a great year at The Cottages on Hollywood, we planned a calendar jam-packed with a variety of residence life events to give our residents and their friends the opportunity to meet and mingle with their neighbors and to enjoy spending time in our luxury amenities.
Week 1 – Front Porch Photos
For our first resident event, we held Front Porch Photos on our very own cottage porches. We had six cottages participate and get nice photos in front of their new home. This was great as many people wanted first day of school photos! We had our very own community assistant host the event and provide everyone with their own edited digital copy.
Week 2 – Cottage Summer Bash
Week two, we held a Cottage Summer Bash at our resort-style pool and cabanas. We had 100 residents join us by the pool for games, free food, and prizes! We had volleyball, giant Jenga, and cornhole. For food, we had a locally loved food truck, KDK’s Chicken and Waffles, come to our property and provide our residents with free fried chicken! Many residents said the fried chicken was the star of the show. For prizes, we had 8 gift cards to giveaway. All residents that attended were entered to win a gift card and got to choose which gift card they wanted. At the end of the day, we went out to the pool area and drew a name to win the grand prize – a YETI!
Week 3 – Yoga By The Pool
During our third week of resident events, we held Yoga by the Pool in cabanas. We had ELXR Yoga, a local yoga studio, host this event. We had residents bring their friends to enjoy a relaxing yoga class by the pool – we also provided two Mamaka Bowls gift cards to giveaway to residents who joined!
Week 4 – Yappy Hour
For our fourth resident event, we held Yappy Hour in our dog park. We had a ton of residents and their owners come and join us for playtime and bakery dog treats as well as free toys to giveaway. The highlight of this event was that we had hats for the pets!
Week 5 – Safety Seminar
Week five, we held a safety seminar in our clubhouse lobby. We had Fayetteville Police Department stop by and teach residents about the importance of safety and how to stay safe. For residents who could not attend in person, we also hosted this event on our Instagram LIVE.
Week 6 – Canned Food Drive
Our very last week of our 6 in 6 events, we held a canned food drive in our office. We had over 100 cans collected within the week! Residents were able to bring in cans during office hours and got entered to win Apple AirPod Pros – each can was one entry! Since we appreciated the kindness of everyone who donated, we reached out to everyone who participated and gifted them a tumbler, t-shirt, and a keychain.
Our team has had such an amazing time getting to meet our residents over the past 6 weeks. Here at The Cottages on Hollywood, we strive to create the best experience in The University of Arkansas off campus housing and hosting a variety of awesome resident events is just one part of achieving that.
